DOS Group wins the Ticino Cuore 2021 Award

An award dedicated to those who put their heart into it.
With the CPR-DOS project, DOS Group SA has been awarded the Ticino Cuore 2021 prize.
The Ticino Cuore Foundation, creator of the Ticino Cuore Prize, promotes and supports research projects and activities aimed at increasing the survival of people affected by sudden cardiac arrest.
What is CPR-DOS?
It is well known that after a cardiac arrest the chances of survival decrease by 10% every minute. Therefore, it is mandatory to coordinate emergency medical services teams, First Responder Volunteers (FRVs) and professionals as quickly as possible to allow them to act in the shortest time possible. Access to defibrillators is not always immediate and First Responder Volunteers intervene without resuscitative assistance or diagnostic support.
The CPR-DOS project aims to provide rescuers with a credit card sized device that can collect CPR and victim health status data in real time. This device is intended to be integrated into the Momentum rescue coordination platform to support rescuers during CPR activity with EMS guidelines and likewise, send data related to patient status can.
The result of the project is a prototype device to support cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) born from the collaboration between SUPSI and DOS Group SA with the support of Fondazione Cardiocentro Ticino.
The device was designed with the objectives of:
- Increase the survival rate of people affected by sudden cardiac arrest;
- Improve FRV and EMS performance by providing the most effective technical and medical support to achieve the best possible CPR in the shortest possible time (i.e. 5 min);
- Provide early clinical data that can help clinicians evaluate medical treatment and obtain valuable data for clinical trials.
